RMN

Post by Hagoth »

This week I have been bombarded with constant and gushing words of amazement about what an remarkable, unique, and brilliant man RMN was: world-class surgeon, spoke multiple languages, accomplished musician, photographic memory, brilliantly insightful and intellectual...

My question is, what did he contribute? He certainly created an image of himself that has people convinced he is one of the greatest minds who ever lived but, especially considering that he was the mouthpiece of Godalmighty, what philosophical or theological innovations did he introduce?

He let us know that Hinckley and Monson both spent millions, if not billions of dollars advertising for Satan™ :?:

I think that's just cult of personality stuff but in Mormonism the cult of personality doesn't center around an individual, it centers around a calling. The person that currently holds the calling is the center of attention and when someone else is called into the venerated position, the new guy becomes the center of worship.

Nelson just passed and as far as I know the first presidency still hasn't been reorganized. Nelson is still the center of attention. A few months from now Oaks will be the center of attention (let the heebie-jeebies and shuddering commence) and you won't hear much about Nelson anymore.

He provided the best business model for the church.

Eliminate prophecy
Introduce policy
Create a theme - “Covenant ________”
Rebrand the old, hang up the bothersome (to him) ideas.
Remind everyone he is in charge.
Spend money on the illusion of growth
Build a personal legacy.
Out live Elder Packer
Throw the members crumbs (2 hour church)
Commit everyone to the covenant path (to nowhere…)

His time as prophet kept everyone busy in a time when growth slowed yet everyone feels like it’s its moved forward.

I think Oaks will focus on sifting the tares from the wheat and blow the “Second Coming is Near” trumpet.

We will see the full disappearance of the statue of Moroni.

Aside from his exaggerations and lies with his many faith promoting stories (ie spiral, airplane death dive), he created more change than any other president since I have been alive. I didn’t agree with all his changes, but there were a lot.
Mormon is victory for Satan to piss off Hinkley
Women can be witnesses to baptisms and hand out towels
Eliminated temple movie
Women no longer covenant to their husbands
Got rid of the HP group
Pox/less pox
Priesthood to 11-year olds
Tank top garments and skirt garments
More temple changes
Announced 200 temples to piss off Hinckley

Ya think GBH and RMN get to have a Professional-Wrestling-Style grudge-match in the MORmON afterlife to work out their differences?

Has it already happened, or do they have to wait until " The Millennium™ " so that all of us get to watch?

I hope they hold the grudge match in the millennium. I probably won’t be in the CK to watch it, but perhaps they will offer Pay-Per-View of the match.

This.
God is Love. God is Truth. The greatest problem with organized religion is that the organization becomes god, rather than a means of serving God.
