Does anyone else feel like conference was another snoozefest? I only watched 2 hours or so, and found it completely boring and uninspiring.
Wife was wondering if they would say anything with recent events connected to the church (e.g. Michigan church shooting, Pres. Nelson passing, Charlie Kirk being killed in Utah by a less-active member), but it doesn't sound like they did. I think they could take 99% of conference (really everything except some of Oaks' opening remarks) and switch it for talks from any other random conference, and the switched talks would work equally well. Supposedly we are blessed for having a prophet that can share God's counsel with us in trying times, but all I hear is the same boring talks being recycled.
October 2025 Conference: Another Snoozefest

Unwritten rule of astrology and fortune telling: say something vague, let people do all the emotional labor, and watch them thank you for “knowing their soul.” use vague, general statements that seem personal, but actually apply to almost anyone, and people unconsciously fill in the blanks with their own experiences, making it feel uniquely accurate. After the fact - past words can be dubbed "prophecy" through interpreting the vague hand-waving's as applying to something that happened.

I watched zero conference last weekend. I did look at MoPags posts on the conference. It sounded like 1-2 people mentioned a tragic bus accident in Africa or somewhere. I think staying away from the US gun violence is probably a good call. That’s probably all the world hears about anyway regarding the USA.

Way too busy to watch this time but it sounds as though I didn't miss very much.

I wonder what the time line is for putting talks together for conference. I imagine they have to be written and submitted ahead of time to allow for review and translation. It is highly likely that when talks were actually written was weeks ago, well before any events currently in the news.
While it is perfectly reasonable to do this for logistical reasons, it does add to the image that they are out of touch with the world around them.

You are entirely correct. Oaks even said in his opening remarks that conference would go just as Nelson had planned/approved it.Just This Guy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 09, 2025 11:35 am I wonder what the time line is for putting talks together for conference.
