Re: An Update from the Prodigal High Councillor
Thanks for sharing Mormorissey! It's good to hear that your wife can see your value as the good husband that you are and that you can actually help others who no longer believe.

Re: Secret lives of non-believing spouses
Thanks for your responses just this guy and what the fluff. It will be interesting to see how long they keep a prohibition on coffee. It seems like there are more and more coffee shops popping up even in provo near byu :o Well sadly you guys are probably right and it's probably safest to not write ...

Re: Secret lives of non-believing spouses
I think you're right alas. It would be cool if somebody like Sam Young or a group of protesters could make a difference. I can understand where a prohibition on alcohol and tobacco makes sense but coffee and tea not so much.

Secret lives of non-believing spouses
As most of you know, as a non-believer I've kept a few things from my wife. Namely tithing, coffee consumption, correspondence on this website and others. It seems that for our marriage, ignorance is bliss. Scarily, if some of these things come to light, I would be in trouble and would have to ...

Re: Spiritual abuse
Thanks for your responses Deacon Blues and Angel! Sadly I live in a pretty saturated Mormon community so attending other denominations probably isn't an option. So I'll have to just focus on loving the kids and perhaps de-emphasizing the church. Eventually they will learn that I'm not a believer and ...

Spiritual abuse
I was reading info on forms of abuse as I am in the healthcare field. Anyway they referenced the national domestic violence hotline. Here is a link: https://www.thehotline.org/resources/types-of-abuse/ Anyhow, you will see there that there is one in there titled spiritual abuse. Specifically where ...

Re: I heard Moksha passed away recently…
Life can be tenuous sometimes and I guess we all have our end eventually. I had a mild heart attack a couple of months ago and it made me realize how fragile life can be. Anyway, RIP Penquin, you will be missed!

Re: The simplest questions
Why was there racism in the Book of Mormon, Book of Abraham etc?
Why was BY so racist?
Why does the church now disavow these racist teachings?
Why did the church finally allow blacks to have the priesthood in 1978?

Re: The simplest questions
Why did JS marry so many wives who were already married? Why did Oliver Cowdery get excommunicated because he believed JS affair with Fanny Alger was adultery? Why did BY marry Zina Huntington after JS died even though her husband was on a mission? Why did JS coerce young girls to marry him? Why did ...

Re: The simplest questions
Why did the bom have so many anachronisms: animals, plants, Christianity, Isaiah, Biblical passages, writing, etc? Why did JS want to be a king and polygamist when in the bom it says that was abominable? Why does the LDS church want 10% of our gross income when the interest that it makes can pay for ...

Re: forced labour
Yeah, sometimes I feel guilty about declaring that I am a full tithe payor in front of my wife and kids and I really haven't been paying tithing. However, I was tbm for quite awhile and paid 10% of my gross income for quite awhile. Then after my faith crisis read that in the early days of the church ...

Alas, sorry about your daughter in law. I have a niece who is lesbian and she and her wife have a baby boy. It seems to me to be just as valid and genuine a family as anyone has. Sending good thoughts and prayers.

I just read all of nomference and sounds like I didn't miss much right? I was lucky that we were on a road trip and only had to listen to part of 2 or so talks. I'm glad Mopag and team suffered through it to give us some good commentary.

Re: Mormon Stories Justin Sweeney
Unbelief in Santa Claus as we transition to adulthood seems universal. Whereas unbelief in the church is not universal because there is still a strong cultural pressure to believe and our friendships and family relationships are tied to these beliefs it seems. That's why mixed faith marriages are ...

Re: Come Along With Me - Second Arrow
Linked, I am impressed that you at least are able to have your family stay home with you once a month. My wife is pretty strong-willed and so it's been hard to do much compromising with her. I am just hoping to at least let them them know of my beliefs before they decide to go on a mission and ...
