Unusual Mission Call
Question for our Idaho NOMmies.
Someone I know just got their kid's mission call to Idaho, Pochatello, Swahili speaking. Is that a real mission? Is there enough of a population for Swahili in the spud state to actually justify such a mission, or are they pulling a fast one on us?

Re: Secret lives of non-believing spouses
In fact I have been thinking of writing the 1st presidency outlining reasons for repealing the prohibition on coffee and tea. I don't know if this would do any good and may cause this issue to come to light to my wife which I don't think would be good. I would think the Q15 would consider you as ...

Considering I am a ordained minister of Dudeism, that would be a good start for me.

When you are the one in charge of writing the history, you can spin it however you want it to sound.

Re: Shorter Conference
I think the primary reason is all of the apostles, who have to preside and talk at all of these conference sessions, are really old. I would also venture to say that scope creep is a factor as well. Each of the Q15 feel they need to have a chance to speak on what is on their mind at a given time ...

Wonder what the cost-benefit analysis was that convinced them to drop that one.

Re: What's going on with Marjorie Taylor-Greene?
MTG is representing Georgia. Georgia has a history of being a swing state. It is close to evenly divided, so it goes back and forth. My initial reaction is that the state is likely getting some buyer's remorse for their candidate choices lately. The economy of the state is slowing. They just had one ...

So penises are evil, but a woman's breast is perfectly fine? Man, there is some weird sexism with their definition of pornography.

I find it interesting that we found the site of Troy, the city from the Homer's The Illiad . We don't know if there really was a giant wooden horse, but we know where the city was. For the BOM, a book supposed not even as old as The Illiand , we sure don't have any evidence of anything that it ...

Re: Founding Fathers
The funny thing about this story is that, unbeknownst to Pres. Woodruff, the work for the Founding Fathers had already been done. I vaguely remember the story, but I thought it was someone in Kirkland (maybe Navoo?) that felt the spirit on them and then did the work for the founding fathers? I am ...

Re: October 2025 Conference: Another Snoozefest
I wonder what the time line is for putting talks together for conference. I imagine they have to be written and submitted ahead of time to allow for review and translation. It is highly likely that when talks were actually written was weeks ago, well before any events currently in the news. While it ...

DW and I made up some excuses and canceled our weekly dinner with my TBM parents when we heard this. We really are not in the mood right now to listen to their sucking up to someone who actively hated what their oldest child is.

Assuming this is true, this will really feed into the Mormon persecution complex. They would love this sort of thing to be true. DHO will likely have a field day with that.Mormorrisey wrote: ↑Mon Sep 29, 2025 8:45 amSo a dude that thinks Mormons are the antichrist. And has access to assault rifles. Not a good combo.

I also found it bewildering that MAGA people were irate about supposed anti-fascist engravings on Robinson's bullet casings. Interesting that considered a personal insult. It is worth nothing that the "anti-fascist" messages engraved on un-fired bullet casings has been found to be a hoax. The WSJ ...

Re: Biggest changes in the church in your lifetime
I think one of the biggest changes to the LDS church is how the common public view the church. It has had two major shifts in my lifetime. 1980's to mid 1990's: LDS church is some backwoods polygamy cult that just isn't that common outside of Utah. Members are strange, but harmless. Mid 1990's to ...

Lucifer Every one is to use free agency and treat each other as they want to be treated. By having empathize for their fellow man, people learn how to better each other together. Religion isn't a big thing and won't be pushed. Instead he encourages people to think for themselves and create their ...
